Brice Bond officially free of peripheral vascular disease, now able to travel the world.

When Brice Bond, a Harrison resident, found out that his leg was occluded with plaque due to the development of peripheral vascular disease, it put a hold on his plans to travel with his wife, putting a halt on enjoying his retirement to the fullest.

This was until he met Dr. Omar P. Haqqani, Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Vascular Health Clinics in Midland, MI, however, who was able to help Brice live life comfortably once again.

Brice has experienced issues with his legs for years, due to extensive damage he had accumulated over the years. However, it wasn’t until last year that he had noticed unusual symptoms start to arise.

“More recently, I had been running out of breath,” Brice said. “It was getting to the point where I couldn’t walk more than 30 feet without having to sit down and take a breather.”

It was at that point that Brice knew something was wrong, later visiting Dr. Haqqani, who would confirm that Brice’s legs were occluded with plaque as a result of peripheral vascular disease.

“They did some tests on me at the clinic, and they told me that I had to undergo a procedure to help clear the blockage,” Brice said.

The process of prepping Brice for surgery begins with peripheral angiograms – an x-ray of the leg’s blood vessels, showing where the most significant blockage is located.

Once completed, Dr. Haqqani was able to use a stent – a cylindrical support system that helps to relieve the obstruction within the blood vessel causing Brice pain. In Brice’s case, however, there were multiple obstructions.

“The blockage was so bad that Dr. Haqqani had to go through a few different areas in order to make sure everything was taken care of,” Brice said. “They were great.”

Months removed from the surgery now, the aches and pains that once cost Brice of his much-earned retirement are no longer an issue.

“Now I can run like a deer!,” Brice said. “I’ve been coming to see Dr. Haqqani for months now and I’m so glad that we found each other.”

Brice is currently married and has been for 25 years. Over the coming years, Brice wishes to spend much of his remaining years travelling with his wife, though he admits it’s mostly for her. Though Brice states they’re still deciding where they’re looking to go, they’re just happy for the opportunity to be spending it without issue.

“My career took me all sorts of places over the years that I’ve pretty much seen everything I’ve wanted to see,” Brice said. “Now it’s her turn!”

Thanks to the revolutionary work of Dr. Haqqani, as well as the incredible support staff at Vascular Health Clinics, Brice will be able use his remaining years to travel the world with his loving wife by his side.
